MediiGate -- The Global Self-Help Medical Gateway

Medical Tourism is an area which is growing exponentially year by year, as countries such as India are gearing up in providing high quality health care, at state of the art hospitals with internationally experienced and qualified clinicians - at substantial cost savings, compared to the UK, USA and Canada.

Recent UK Government changes are increasingly focusing on customer driven choice, e.g. “Choose & Book” where Consultants have to identify a list of potential places for treatment and the patient can opt to choose, in order of priory where to receive the treatment and by whom.  And thus, the situation is increasingly likely to become more like an open marketplace with the customer choosing from this marketplace.

MediiGate will identify and evaluate the procedures used by self help patients, the tools available or necessary to aid them, and how these services can be integrated in a commercially viable way using portal technologies. The foundation of the portal is based on advanced portal technologies developed for the Engineering industry by the West Midlands Collaborative Commerce Marketplace - WMCCM in the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of Warwick, UK.
